High School Rivals

When you think of rivals what do you think of?

The term is one of two or more striving to reach or obtain something that only one can possess.

It definately discribes what we are when it comes to high school sports between Roseau and Warroad, Minnesota. I was born and raised in Warroad. Growing up playing sports you just knew that when it was time to play the Roseau Rams in those green and white jerseys that you had to win other wise it was a huge disappointment and in most sports you only have two games either you win both or you lose one and try your damn hardest to win that other game to make it an even battle or in some cases you may loose to them both times but there is always next year we look forward to.

Yesterday, I went to the Warroad/Roseau Hockey game in Roseau. It is by far the biggest rivalry in the state of Minnesota. It wasn't a very good game on Warroads part since we lost 4-0 but before that we won in overtime 4-3. Going to the games and seeing all the fans in the stand just gives you that chill and motivation that you are going to lay your heart and soul out there. These games can get very emotional too.

I can honestly say  that I miss high school so much. The most I miss is the sports, I used to play basketball, it was once the love of my life. I also miss seeing those familiar faces every day and that bond you had with your teammates is something I will never forget.  I always supported every other team as well and we all got along in school. You might be surprised but some of the Warroad and Roseau students got along and were really good friends, maybe not when we were younger but as we got older we knew them because we grew up playing each other every year. In both towns we are all about hockey, my great grandfather was the mayor at one point and even named Warroad "Hockey Town USA". That also doesn't mean that the other sports aren't recognized because we are but there is just that thing about hockey. I love watching hockey, sometimes I wish I would have played that instead of basketball or even both at the same time if I could.

My six quirks:

1. If I don't have my planner, with everything written down for me to follow or semi-follow I will fall apart and forget certain things I was supposed to do. Some days I will just go with the flow but for the most part I like to be organized and cannot stand it when I am not. Therefore I bring my planner everywhere!

2. I worry a lot, almost to much some days. Sometimes over little things, things that are months from now, and over nothing at all. Once I start worrying I won't stop until I have everything figured out and under control that is were my planner come in hand.

3. If something is bothering me, you wouldn't even know because I'm good at hiding it with a smile, unless I want you to know.

4. I am a helpful, caring person, who loves to talk your ear off and give some advice when is asked for. I would put anyone first before myself and I cannot stand fighting and will do anything to avoid one.

5. I am a clean/neat freak. If the dishes are dirty I am right there to clean them, my room is spot less and I always keep things in the same place.  When I get bored I like to clean, sometimes I will clean the same thing three times in one day because I actually have nothing else to do or I am just procrastinating on something that needs to get done and I don't feel like doing it at the moment.

Why Do I Write?

I like to write when I want to express myself. It is the best way to let all of my feelings out on a piece of paper, word document, or e-mail. Whether I am giving that piece to a friend, parent, significant other or keep it for myself to read later on. Sometimes I cannot come up with words that express the way I feel. I try my hardest to explain it for others to understand, when I want them to. I like to write things down when I think I might forget something important I heard that day or need to remember it for later. When I was in middle school I use to write poems and letters all the time! I would give them to my girlfriends inbetween classes and the guys I had crushes on. I also use to write poems, mainly when I was very upset or excited about something that was going on in my life at that moment. I don't really write that much anymore, which makes me a bit sad now that I think of it. These are some of the reasons I write. What are your reasons?
